Watch the Stars - Lyrics, Chords, Origin and RecordingAs far as I can find out, Watch the Stars is an old negro spiritual from the U.S.A. (if you know more about it, email me). It has been recorded by Pentangle and there is a lovely old version on an album called American Folk Songs for Christmas. This version is by Off the Beaten Track, a U.K. based folk band that I play with. The guitarist is Ross Fergusson, and the singer is Michèle Welborn. You can find out more about Michèle at her web page, here, or her Reverb Nation page, here. Click the play button

Lyrics Watch the stars, see how they run; Watch the stars, see how they run; You know the stars run down at the setting of that sun; Watch the stars, see how they run.
Watch the wind, see how it blows; Watch the wind, see how it blows; You know the wind shall blow, when the sun's going down; Watch the wind, and see how it blows.
Watch the moon, see how it glows; Watch the moon, see how it glows; You know the moon's gonna glow, when the sun goes down; Watch the moon, see how it glows.
Watch the stars, see how they run; Watch the stars, see how they run; You know the stars run down at the setting of that sun; Watch the stars, see how they run.
