Folk and Traditional Music Groups / Artists

Calliope Creek - Guitar and fiddle duet playing traditional Celtic and Appalachian music, based in California.

Andy Irvine - Andy Irvine has been hailed as "a tradition in himself." Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy has maintained both personal integrity and highly individual performing skills throughout his 40-year career. From Sweeney's Men in the mid sixties to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, to THE Irish super group, Patrick Street, in the 80s, Andy has been a world music pioneer and icon for traditional music and musicians.

Folk Clubs

Penicuik Folk Club and Festival - The town of Penicuik (near Edinburgh in Scotland) has some 15 000 inhabitants. This is its folk club.

Other Folk / Roots / Traditional Music Links

Cornwall and the Cornish - Brycchan Carey's website about (surprise, surprise!) Cornwall and the Cornish. An excellent site that includes a fascinating page commenting on several Cornish folk songs.

Songs of the West - a site that describes the life and work of Sabine Baring-Gould and the collection of songs that he made at the end of the nineteenth century. Sabine Baring Gould was the Squire and Parson of the parish of Lewtrenchard in West Devon, in the UK. He was also a scholar, antiquarian, collector and a prolific author of both fiction and non-fiction: a man who was, in many ways, out of step with the rest of his generation.
